The primary purposes of the Sweetwater Counseling and Guidance Association will be:

  • To act as the exclusive representatives of bargaining units composed of employees within the scope of membership in all matters relating to employment conditions and employer-employee relations including, but not limited to wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment;
  • To strengthen the program of instruction through Counseling and Guidance activities;
  • To promote and advance the interests of the Counseling and Guidance Student Support Services in the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD);
  • To provide members with opportunities to exchange ideas, seek, solutions to common problems, and stimulate professional growth;
  • To raise the standards of the Counseling profession;
  • To encourage cooperation between Counselors and the community;
  • To cooperate with our Pupil Personnel Service associations;
  • To continuously represent the membership, both individually and collectively, in matters arising out of the interpretation and application of policies and laws before officials of the SUHSD and other public officials having jurisdiction in any way over the service of a member or members within the SUHSD;
  • To serve the Membership in any other lawful manner leading directly or indirectly to the improvement of group and individual morale and welfare with regard to service in the Counseling and Guidance profession.
